The Teotihuacan ruins are truly an amazing place to visit. You can do it in a half day, but take your time to explore the entire location and to climb the Pyramid of the Sun. I wasn’t traveling solo (which is when I tend to be more aggressive on the safety front), and didn’t do anything out of the ordinary other than avoiding taxis, which was easy with Uber.By car: it takes about 45 minutes from Mexico City center, if you use the toll highway. It takes longer if you use the old free road. There is a small fee for parking at the site.By bus: Buses to Teotihuacán leave from Mexico City every 20 minutes from Terminal Autobuses del Norte (Autobuses del Norte Metro station). Find gate 8, showing a blue pyramid sign, and buy tickets. Check that your bus goes to the site entrance of Teotihuacán ruinas (just say Pirámides).
