I could have imported the laser holder model and modified it and then re-printed ..... it was late by that stage so I just drilled out the plastic to 12mm and popped the lasers inside. I've been looking forward to playing with one of these scanners for just over a year now and finally i've got my hands on one! The HE3D Scanner is perfect for taking basic shaped items and turning. In order to get good results I would suggest reading all the documentation rather than just diving in. There is not that much to read and after ten minutes you will be better equipt to get a good result. The scanning platform is rotated by a stepper motor which can precisely rotate an object up to 3 kilograms or 6.6 pounds in weight. The two scanning lasers capture fine surface details with a 3D scanning precision of 0.5 mm (500 microns). Horus is an Open Source software for 3D scanning. It has been developed by bq, and released to the community under GPLv2. It is written in Python language. This application offers a graphical user interface to connect, control, adjust, calibrate and scan object with an open source 3D scanner. Also it contains real-time visualization of 3D point.
